Ugo Foundation’s overarching goal is to provide young people the basis with which to develop into free, moral and integrated individuals and to aid every child in the unfolding of his or her unique destiny. UGO Foundation supports the needy to give hope and facilitate dreams of individuals working toward achieving a great future.
UGO foundation was created and funded through the generosity and good will of Prince James Ugochukwu Odogwu Okonyia and his wife Princess Olufemi Odogwu-Okonyia. Grants to qualifying applicants in recent years have totaled in excess of N2, 500,000 annually. Grants will generally be in the region of N20, 000 to N50, 000 with occasional grants being made in the N100, 000 range.
The foundation’s Board of Directors meets quarterly to award grants. Qualifying requests received will be considered. Notification of grant
awards is in early January.
Recipients are expected to submit, at the end of the grant period, a statement or copy of the work/project describing how the funding was used and its effect on the school(s) or on the individual recipient.
The Trust Agreement establishing the Foundation provides that funds of the Foundation be used for “the promotion of education for the less privileged, oghanes and the helpless, the advancement of health and livelihood of widows/widowers.” The Trustors expressed the desire that the funds be used for such purposes “to benefit residents and persons living in Nigeria especially within the Ogbaru Local Government Area with.”
